“Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.”
Mark Twain (1835-1910)

Welcome to the first of my occasional blogs!

February, the month of love, hearts, flowers, Valentine’s Day, and chocolates – so soon after you made that New Year’s Resolution!

I really want to encourage you to take care of yourself in a healthy way this month. That might not be reading every new article that comes out about weight loss or healthy exercise. It might be pulling back from some exercise. I recently spoke to a client about cutting back on how many workouts she could do every day. The most important piece of advice I can give you is this: listen to your body.

Those who know me know that I emphasize Stillness. Spend some time every day in being still. When you are in that space, listen quietly to your body’s messages. Are you really hungry? Are you thirsty? Are you exhausted and just need to sit for a bit? Give yourself permission to do just that.

We have gotten used to running at full speed all the time. Our adrenal glands are constantly in the fight mode and are confused. Even though you may be sticking to a regular routine, diet and rest are super important parts of your daily message to your body.

Take this month of love to treat yourself, appreciate your body and all it does and has done for you and honor yourself. Be still, be quiet. Promise yourself every single day, even if it’s only for five minutes, that you will sit and do nothing but be still.
