“The greatest wealth is health.”
“Health is a state of mind; wellness is a state of being.”
“Take care of your today – it’s the only place you have to live in.”
“There’s no one giant step that does it, it’s a lot of little steps.”
Welcome to March and Corona Virus Madness!
All of the above quotes – and a proliferation of others – are at our fingertips and really, we do know that we should be washing our hands and taking care of ourselves. There is a lot of information floating around and our responsibilities lie in being as healthy and conscious as we can.
At our studio, we are following these protocols, and we suggest these for daily living as well: (from a publication of Hamsa Yoga, Alan Haras):
Yoga, as a tradition, is a set of practices and teachings that are designed to reduce suffering and increase well-being. In light of the corona virus, these two things have been at the forefront of our minds. We have been and will continue to take action-steps to protect and enhance your wellness through a variety of measures – most notably, regular deep cleaning and sanitizing of our studio.
I invite each of you to please take good care of yourself and one another. Here is a wealth of useful information gathered together by the Oakland County Health Division. In addition, yoga, meditation, and yogic lifestyle can be very helpful for strengthening our immunity in times like these. Here is a short article by Dr. David Frawley on the subject.
As practitioners of Yoga and in daily life, you can contribute to our culture of wellness by taking a few basic steps:
• If you are not feeling well, please refrain from coming to class.
• Thoroughly and regularly wash hands. Consider making this into a 20-second ritual by including a mantra (such as I AM HEALTHY or intention for the well-being of all.
• Please use your own yoga mat and props, and use the disinfectant spray provided by Hamsa Yoga to clean any props after use.
• If you have traveled to countries or areas in the U.S. where there are clusters of COVID-19 infections, please follow the CDC’s protocol for self-quarantine and seeking appropriate medical care if necessary.
Many thanks to all of you for the blessing of serving you through Yoga. May all beings be happy and free from suffering, and may our thoughts, words and actions contribute to that in some way.
Above all, be calm and conscious.
“Healthy is an outfit that looks different on everybody.”
